Frequently Asked Questions - DRAT

DRAT is an appellate authority under the Recovery of Debts Due to Banks and Financial Institutions Act, 1993. It hears appeals against orders passed by the Debt Recovery Tribunals (DRT) regarding recovery of debts by banks and financial institutions.

Both banks/financial institutions and borrowers can file an appeal with DRAT against orders of the DRT if they are dissatisfied with the decision regarding debt recovery, claims, or repayment terms.

An appeal must be filed within 30 days from the date of the DRT order. DRAT may condone the delay if sufficient cause is shown for late filing.

DRAT can confirm, modify, or set aside the DRT orders. It can direct repayment schedules, recovery amounts, or other relief as deemed fit under the law.

Our legal team provides expert representation in DRAT appeals, including filing appeals, drafting grounds of appeal, preparing evidence, and advocating before the tribunal to protect client interests in debt recovery disputes.
